Established in 2010 at its Boca Raton brewpub, Funky Buddha is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing methods with culinary-inspired recipes utilizing all-natural, food-centric ingredients. Some of its best-known beers include flagships Hop Gun IPA and Floridian Hefeweizen.  This fast-growing company is the first production brewery in the greater Fort Lauderdale area and the largest brewery in South Florida and is positioned for rapid expansion over the next few years.

Packaging Lead

A Packaging Lead is responsible for leading and participating in all aspects of packaging processes, as well as with administrative and organizational duties for this department. This employee must be a hard-working, responsible, and self-motivated individual with a passion for craft beer and a desire to continue learning and growing within the industry. The candidate must be someone who leads by example in following procedure and policy, is proactive, and helps to maintain the highest standards of employee performance in the packaging department. The candidate needs to be ready to be flexible in their schedule and be available to work long hours if needed to get projects done and meet production schedules. The candidate should also be a sociable person who is comfortable occasionally representing the brewery in public. Natural leadership, integrity, loyalty, and a good sense of humor are all factors in who we hire.


Responsibilities

• Successfully operate all equipment used for packaging beer at FBB

• Follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for all operations

• Preserve the Funky Buddha quality standards

• Perform CIP on all filling equipment using automated and manual systems

• Perform or assist with preventative maintenance (PM) on all packaging equipment according to PM schedule

• Troubleshoot and assist with the repair of all equipment related to packaging operations

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment following OSHA and company guidelines

• Ability to follow-instructions and meet business needs based on daily goal changes when necessary

• Must be able to complete most tasks with minimal supervision

• Be able to assist management in ensuring all team breaks and lunches are taken within established company guidelines

• Communicate to management updates and changes as appropriate 

• Log and send daily production reports 

• Perform or supervise all training for new Packaging Associates

• Assist in the development of SOPs

• Work to improve processes based around efficiency and minimal product loss

• Forklift operation

• Assistance in monitoring and recording packaging raw materials inventory

• Assisting with packaging raw material ordering

• Maintain and complete in a timely fashion an ongoing list of special assignments and give regular progress reports to supervisor

• Must always be a champion for following the rules and policies of the brewery, and must encourage this to others, both by example and vigilance

• Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

• Flexible schedule to work: day, night, grave, holiday and weekend shifts

• Experience in a fast-paced production environment

• The ability to work independently as well as with others

• 2+ years’ experience on a beverage packaging line

• 2+ years’ experience with fillers and conveyance systems 

• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Power Point

• A strong passion for beer and beer quality

• An advanced understanding of packaging operations


Preferred Qualifications

• An understanding of quality assurance (QA) methods and techniques, laboratory operations, and basic knowledge of chemistry and biology

• Prior packaging, bottling, and racking experience

• Mechanical experience and aptitude

• Forklift operation or certification

• Heavy physical work including climbing stairs, climbing into tanks, pulling hoses, etc.

Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals

Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
