Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Legal, this role supports the preparation of financial statements, manages the monthly close process, maintains internal controls, and assists with budgeting and compliance initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, collaborating across departments, and contributing to the financial success of a growing manufacturing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial record maintenance.
  • Supervise and support day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses in partnership with the Director of Finance & Legal.
  • Support inventory accounting and cost accounting activities to ensure accurate valuation and reporting.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate annual audits and assist with external auditors, tax preparers, and other financial partners.
  • Prepare financial reports and schedules to support business decision-making and leadership reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing month-end close and preparing financial statements.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or CPA-track experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, food and beverage, or consumer packaged goods environments.
  • Familiarity with inventory and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial process improvements.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting staff.
